Collection: Portraits
“There is a distinction between fact and truth. Truth has an element of revelation about it. If something is true, it does more than strike one as merely being so.”― Lucian Freud
A portrait is an artistic representation of a person, concentrating on the face and its expression, which aims to show not only likeness but personality and mood. A photograph captures a moment in time, whereas a portrait captures a life lived up to that moment and projects that image through time. Portraits can be commissioned as a gift to celebrate a special event like a birthday, retirement, new life or new home. They can also capture performers - or ‘would be’ performers - in action. But always they must be revelatory.
