Years after my dad died I followed in his portrait painting footsteps. The legacy he left taught me much about the art.

After having met the family for one sitting, seen where the portrait would hang and discussed the pose and what they'd wear, work began to note their skin tones, personalities, gesture. After taking and agreeing on photos to be used, I return to my home studio, where the work to created the portrait in earnest begins...
