Marilyn Monroe, American actress, model and singer was emblematic of the changing attitudes towards sexuality in the 1950s and 1960s and is still an icon today. Famous for playing comedic ‘blond bombshell’ characters she was one of the most marketable Hollywood stars by 1953, with possibly one of her most famous films being Some Like It Hot (1959). Marilyn, who died young, said, ”They will only care when you’ve gone.” This drawing, based on a black and white photo, reimagines a Young Marilyn in colour.
