Recalling my childhood, I created this oil portrait to remind me of a special trip and to evoke in the viewer your own memories of Italian holidays in the '60s. I was just six and visiting Rome for the first time with my Italian mother and family. Here, in '60s clothes, my sister and her friend posed against the Palatine hills with my godfather's son. They carry scarves to cover their shoulders as a sign of respect in the cool cathedral interior.
