Paul McCartney is an English singer, songwriter and musician who gained worldwide fame with The Beatles, for whom he played left-handed bass guitar and shared primary songwriting and lead vocals with John Lennon.
I've always loved the visual symmetry of McCartney and Lennon playing guitar together. So this portrait of McCartney shows him continuing his career as one of the most successful composers and performers of all time, without Lennon.
This digital painting is inspired by a photo by rock photographer Solomon N’Jie at the Prince's Trust, 20 June 1986 Wembley Arena. Sol says, ”The Beatles are one of my favourite all time bands. I was too young to see them live, but did see Paul, George and Ringo perform separately in the 80’s. On this occasion Macca was performing at the Princes Trust in 1986. This painting captures Paul in full voice belting out one of his classic songs.”
