Robert Hokum is the founder of the Ealing Blues Festival. Gigging, especially in local venues, is an integral part of his lifestyle, not least for the social aspect. Not just a performer, he is also an avid audience member. Lockdown has meant the absence of 'live music' and is likely to have long-term repercussions for venues for all aspects of the arts.

However, Hokum acknowledges, “the lockdown has allowed me to re-appraise my music, tighten up on technique and experiment with playing other forms without having to worry about suitability for gigs. But I’m looking forward to getting 'back on the road’.”

Oil on canvas. Unframed.

40 x 30 x 2cm (15.74 x 11.81 x 0.78 inches).
