I painted 'Dead Man's Uke' after seeing them play at the Half Moon Putney, where I'm resident artist. Tiny Tim's famous song, "Tiptoe Through the Tulips," was his last before a fatal heart attack. The uke now belongs to a father & son duo, who play old blues tunes. The band was named when the son asked, "Where's that dead man's uke?" In this oil portrait I show the duo's relationship with their instruments, where the double bass, for instance, became a dancing partner.
