Sir Rod Stewart CBE British is rock and pop singer-songwriter. Although born and raised in London he is of Scottish and English ancestry. He is proud of his Scottish roots, as symbolised by the saltire in the background of this digital painting. Stewart supports Celtic, which he mentions in ‘You’re in my heart’, and, on the English side, follows Manchester United. The green and white of Celtic are reflected in the stage lights, the red of Manchester United in his jacket - also symbolising love, which features in many of his songs.
The artwork is inspired by a photo by rock photographer Solomon N'Jie. Sol says: “Rod Stewart is a song writer who produced unique observations of everyday life with profound lyrics, self-effacing humour and a unique singing voice that is instantly recognisable. His love of football and support for Celtic, flamboyant stage presence and a good-time rocker heritage are all captured in this picture.”
