My oil portrait captures Matt Wall on guitar and Roy Gee on tenor sax playing for cafe patrons in sunny Brighton. Jazz is an art form full of blue scales, displaced beats, and the creative freedom of improvisation - which I express in the painting with a cool backdrop that both isolates the musicians but binds them together with their vibrant instruments. Negative space brings a rhythm to the composition.
