Sir Rod Stewart CBE British is rock and pop singer-songwriter.Born and raised in London, Stewart is proud of his English ancestry and Scottish roots, symbolised by the saltire in the background. He supports Celtic and Manchester United which he mentions in ‘You’re in my heart’. The green and white of Celtic are reflected in the stage lights, the red of Manchester United in his jacket - also symbolising love, which features in many of his songs.
The artwork is inspired by a photo by rock photographer Solomon N'Jie taken on the Body Wishes Tour, Earls Court 25 - 27 June 1983. Sol says: “Rod Stewart is a song writer who produced unique observations of everyday life with profound lyrics, self-effacing humour and a unique singing voice that is instantly recognisable. His love of football and support for Celtic, flamboyant stage presence and a good-time rocker heritage are all captured in this picture.”
