The Notting Hill Carnival has always held a special place in my heart. It used to be my beat as a cub reporter on the Kensington News and Post in a former career. Carnival was the big event in the calendar and I used to love to go to report on the bands jumping up each year. I met this dancer as she was about to leave Ealing, when I live, on a float bound for carnival resounding with a chorus of blown whistles.
