Bob Geldof is an Irish singer-songwriter, actor and political activist. He was lead singer of the Irish rock band the Boomtown Rats who emerged during the punk rock movement of my teens.

It is Geldof’s tireless charity work and political activism through music that I wanted to highlight in this image. His chin and arms are lifted in appeal as he delivers his humanitarian message on sound waves in the universal language of music.

My digital painting is based on a photo by rock photographer Solomon N’Jie at Live Aid, 13 July 1985 Wembley Stadium. Sol says, "Bob was a force of nature during the 80’s who didn’t take no for an answer. Arguably his crowning glory was Live Aid which he pushed through and sang his signature song ‘I don’t like Mondays’. Stella has captured the raw passion of Bob performing at Live Aid in this picture."
