Portrait: Vanessa Gillies

Vanessa Gillies is a hairdresser friend who agreed to sit for a portrait for me, when I needed models during my portraiture studies. 

She was very keen that her own hair looked good in the portrait and I thought it would be fun to show her own artistry from both the front and the back. 

Having inherited a wonderful mirror from my mum, I sat her against it and, over six sessions of three hours over six weeks, and lots of wonderful chats, the portrait took shape and I was able to gift it to her.
