My portrait of musician Marky Dawson finds a new home!

Marky Dawson, a charismatic west London-based pianist and singer-songwriter, is a true showman with a voice that can cover Musical Theatre, Jazz and Rock genres effortlessly. His rocking piano chops and captivating performances have garnered him a loyal following of music enthusiasts.

I'm delighted that my oil portrait of Marky has found a home with him.

Bringing Joy Through Livestreams

I painted Marky's portrait during lockdown when Marky entertained people through weekly Livestreams on Facebook, where viewers can make song requests and show their appreciation by donating to his online tip jar. His passion for music shone through in every performance, creating a magical experience for his online audience.

The Missing Element: Audience Interaction

Despite the virtual nature of his performances, Marky said of that extraordinary time during the pandemic that he missed the energy and interaction of a live audience.  "It is very strange finishing a song and sitting there in silence! I've had watchers from Canada, US, and Germany, so I hope they are applauding at home," he said.

Looking Forward to Live Performances

Back then Marky was hopeful that once it was safe to do so, there would be a surge of support for live performances. The anticipation of being able to connect with his audience in person and feel their energy is something that drove his passion for music even further.

Today, Marky Dawson's dedication to his craft and his ability to bring joy to people through his music is truly inspiring. His talent as a pianist and singer-songwriter is matched only by his genuine love for performing and connecting with his audience.
