Autobiographical portrait - Roman holiday
Some of my work is autobiographical, based on childhood transparencies, so beautifully backlit, which evoke shared memories in the viewer.
My mother was from Naples and this was my first trip at six years old to visit relatives in Italy, with our first stop Rome. Here my sister Lorna and her friend Lynne, dressed in 60s clothing are posing for a photo against the Palatine hills with my Godfather’s son Simon. One carries the scarf they needed to cover their shoulders as they looked around the cool interior of the cathedral.
