Artist opens home studio by appointment - Jan to March 2026!

An artist impression of the new Half Moon Putney glazed extension
The iconic music venue, the Half Moon Putney, where I have been resident artist for the past eight years, is to close its doors in January for three months while it gets a full make over.
Youngs, which owns The Half Moon Putney - where live music had been played continuously since 1963 - says that the refurbishment will continue to build on its reputation as "a legendary grassroots venue".
Tomorrow, in advance of the works, I will be collecting my paintings and mixed media artworks of some of the venue's performers I have portrayed over the years. From Pink Floyd's Nick Mason's supergroup, the Saucerful of Secrets, launched at the venue, to regulars like The Rollin Stoned, and musician residents like Ralph McTell and Albert Lee (legendary guitarist who played with The Everlys!)
And, on my social media I will be posting regularly throughout the closure period those artworks I have created since, both those that have SOLD and those still to find a home - and their backstories.
LONDON HOME STUDIO VISITS BY APPOINTMENT JANUARY-MARCH 2026
During the first three months of the year, my home studio in Northfields, Ealing (on the Piccadilly line Heathrow bound), will be open, by appointment, to those art lovers who might like to visit and browse my entire collection - all in one place for the very first time.
DISCOUNT FOR HOME STUDIO VISITORS
Those who visit will be offered a 20 per cent discount on ALL ORIGINAL oil, acrylic and mixed media ARTWORKS - and 10 per cent on digital paintings and prints. A full selection of my greetings cards will also be on show and for sale.
Please don't be shy. Whether you purchase something or not during your visit, I'll be glad to see you, and to talk about my art.
Opening your studio is a great way to connect with art lovers, for them to discover more about your inspiration and technique and for you to find out why your art that speaks to them over a cuppa or cold drink.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
In 2018 the Half Moon Putney marked my appointment as its resident artist the previous year with an online catalogue of my artworks. The artworks formed part of New Moon - the revival of one of the capital’s longest-running, and world-renowned, live music venues, which turned 55 that year.
Artist residencies allow individuals to explore their practice within another community. As a trained portrait artist, fascinated by performers, I have sought to capture the creative energy of many of our best loved acts.
As I now flick through the pages of the catalogue, I notice many have now SOLD:
Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band

Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band Henri Harrison SOLD
There are some bands that I just couldn't get enough of as they were so visually exciting. Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band (back then Half Moon Putney stalwarts) was like that. It was their change of hats after every song that attracted me. One moment a musician was in a top hat, the next aviator goggles. Great fun!
I still have two artworks for sale from this series, Bob Kerr himself, and two members of his band Malcolm Sked and Richard White.

Neville Staple Band
Another band I couldn't get enough of was the Neville Staple Band. It was the music of my mid to late teens and I just loved the joyousness of it and the bringing together of black and white musicians on the stage. All three of the artworks I created of them sold and went on show in Coventry for the 40th anniversary of Ska 2019/2020.

Sledge Neville Staple Band SOLD
Police Dog Hogan
Police Dog Hogan - a popular British country/Americana/folk-rock band - again became a muse for me and inspired SIX artworks! This time I was drawn in by their blending of fiddle, banjo, accordion and trumpet with catchy melodies and witty lyrics. Being a Guardianista, I also loved to follow banjo player Tim Dowling's Guardian column full of humorous tour tales.
What's great about having muses as they give you a chance to experiment. So, for my first mixed media portrait of the accordionist Shahen Galichian, I incorporated words, like graffiti, inspired by the closing of Shahen's eyes as he played, that made me imagine him concentrating on the words of the song as he played the melody. Lost in music.
